Frost Advisory #790 – You’re Talented. And People Like Listening To You

This week I was a part of a conversation that had nothing to do with radio. Until I realized that it did.

For 790 weeks (that’s 15+ years for those of you keeping track), I’ve been churning out these Frost Advisories on my nifty laptop with the hope that they may inspire you to do better radio. Maybe even transformational radio. Golly, maybe even to impact your listeners’ lives.

My intent is to share big ideas and small ideas, and many things that fall in between.

Big ideas are often the ones that make us react with “Jeepers, I’ve never thought about it that way.”

Small ideas are often about things right in front of us that could be more effective with just a tweak or two. How we give away stuff is an example; we can either focus on the cardboard – the stuff – or we can share stories of generosity. That’s a transformative idea that connects with our God-given desire to be generous people, not merely just to get stuff.

Back to my point…

This week I was part of a conversation where someone said, “You’re talented. And people like listening to you.”

Maybe that’s a place every station, big or little, can at least begin. Perhaps we can strive to have things come out of the speakers that only talented people can do (setting the standard) and let’s have people enjoy listening to us (desiring a result).

A future Frost Advisory, don’tcha know.
